VTU : Eligibilty criteria to select for kannada kali course of BE / B.Tech III, IV Sem 2017-18 Batch

    With reference to the above subject, that 17KL 39/49 Kannada is one of the courses prescribed for one credit to III and IV semester of all BE./B.Tech programmes of 2017-18 batch.The student community of the University is comprised of students from different geographical locations, with different medium of instruction and different first and second languages of study during schooling. To facilitate the student community, undergoing the said credit course, without facing much difficulty, the course is taught in two different forms viz., Kannada Manasu and Kannada Kali.

    While Kannada Manasu is for students who know Kannada to speak, read and write, Kannada Kali is for students who do not know Kannada to speak, read and write.

    The following criteria may be considered to group the students for Kannada Manasu and Kannada Kali.

    Kannada Manasu
    Kannada Manasu shall be the prescribed course of study for students of III/IV semester of all programmes of 2017 -18 batch, who satisfy any one of the following.

    (1) Studied I'to' X standard in Kannada medium

    (2) Studied Kannada as first or second language during high school and cleared SSLC examination.

    (3) Studied Kannada at any level of schooling and are able to speak, write and read Kannada.

    (4) Passed Diploma or Certificate Course in Kannada conducted by a University established by law in India.

    (5) Passed Kava, Jana or Rathna examinations conducted by Kannada Sahitya Parishat.

    (6) Passed the SSLC examinationor any other examination declared as equivalent thereto by the State Government or any examinations higher than the SSLC examination
    • in which the question papers on different subjects are answered in Kannada language or
    • in which kannada is the main or second language, or an optional subject but not one of the subject in a composite paper.

    The course shall be decided by the Principal based on the documentary evidence furnished by the students, while filling the pro forma for the registration of the cour se Kannada Manasu / Kannada Kali, including documents submitted during admission to BE/B.Tech/B.Arch/B.Plan.

    Kannada Kali
    Kannada Kali shall be the prescribed course of study for students of III/IV semester of all programmes of 2017 -18 batch, who have not studied Kannada at any level of schooling(State, Central - CBSE/ICSE or International) and are not able to speak, write and read Kannada.

    The course shall be decided by the Principal based on the documentary evidence furnished by the students, while filling a pro forma for the registration of the course Kannada Manasu/ Kannada Kali, including documents submitted during admission to B.E.,/B.Tech.,/B.Arch.,/B.Plan. The Principals of Affiliated Engineering Colleges are requested to bring the contents of this circular to the notice of all the concerned.
