Osmania University ( OU ) Constitution of Self-Finance Units(SFUs) and feasibility of NSS Units comprising 50 volunteers

Osmania University ( OU ) I am directed to refer to the subject cited above and to convey the approval of the Competent Authority regarding the constitution of Self- Finance Units (SFUs) and the unit strength of Grant-in-Aid (GIA) NSS Units under the MY Bharat - NSS Scheme.

2. The following decisions have been approved by the Competent Authority.
(i) Self-Finance Units (SFUs) comprising 50 volunteers may be permitted, as no financial assistance is provided by the Government of India to such units and, therefore, their constitution does not entail any financial implication for the Government.

(ii) Grant-in-Aid (GIA) NSS Units shall continue to comprise 100 volunteers in accordance with the existing Scheme guidelines. However, where an individual institution is unable to enrol 100 volunteers, a cluster approach may be adopted whereby two or more institutions may jointly constitute one GIA NSS Unit comprising 100 volunteers under a single Programme Officer, subject to the condition that the participating institutions are located within the same block.

3. The Directorate of NSS is requested to circulate the above decisions to all NSS Regional Directorates, State NSS Officers, NSS Programme Coordinators of Universities/+2 Councils and other concerned stakeholders for strict compliance and wider dissemination amongst all field functionaries under the MY Bharat—NSS Scheme.

4. This issues with the approval of the Competent Authority.
