Each year, students work hard to clear the entrance and join our university with the hope to empower themselves with education and become self-sufficient, both financially and socially. You are also aware about the fact that many of our students lack the social and financial support to see them through university education. Hence, they rightfully expect the university to support them with good hostel and mess facilities. Without comfortable hostel amenities and good food for nourishment, education will not empower our students.
However, hostel and mess budgets are not reaching their intended and rightful beneficiaries. This is due to non-boarders, who are overstaying in the university hostels beyond their course duration. As a result, many students are unable to find room in the hostels and are hence losing out on the opportunities that education promises them.
As the Vice Chancellor of Osmania University, it is both by fiduciary duty and moral responsibility to ensure an enriching academic experience to every student, which is directly dependent on ensuring good hostel and mess facilities. I want to make an earnest appeal to all non-boarders to empathize with the problems that new students are facing and vacate the hostels immediately. Otherwise, it would be a great injustice to our students and to their dreams and hopes of becoming empowered socially and financially.
Together, we have to make Osmania University available for each and every aspiring student. Together, we can take our university to greater heights of educational and research excellence.
