Based on the directions of the Government, the University has assigned to Dr. Susie J Tharu, In-Charge of Course Development, former ly Professor of English, Foreign Languages University, to give the print-ready version of the textbook for the Gender Sensitivity in UG Course by mid-August 2015 in Telugu and English versions.
Note :
1. The new course on 'Gender Sensitization' should be introduced as a Compulsory Foundation Course with at least three credits at II year UG level for all branches of Engineering Technology and Pharmacy.
2. 'Half the Heavens' was suggested as a possible title of the textbook. It will be available in three languages like English, Hindi & Telugu.
3. Even though it is a bilingual/trilingual textbook, the medium of instruction is English and assessment is also in English. Indian languages are meant only for better comprehension of the students.
4. Internal assessment should be based on attendance requirement as per the norms of the University, Assignments (during the course) and a mini project (at the end of the course).
5. Since this is a value added course, the name of the course may be reflected in the Marks Memo. Final result would be Pass/Fail based on the marks obtained in the Internal Evaluation. Marks obtained in the course will not be included in the aggregate marks for the award of the degree. 40% marks should be obtained to get a pass grade.
6. Under the circumstances as stated above, the Vice-Chancellor is pleased to approve the above Introducing the 'Gender Sensitization' course in II Year II semester in B.Tech. and B.Pharmacy for all the branches in the Constituent and Affiliated Colleges of JNTUH including Autonomous Colleges as a compulsory subject in addition to the existing course structure of R 13 and R15 Regulations from the academic year 2015-16, subject to the ratification by Executive Council.
7. The Senate has appreciated the steps taken by the University for introducing the 'Gender Sensitization' course in II Year II semester in B. Tech. and B. Pharmacy for all the branches in the Constituent and Affiliated Colleges of JNTU H including Autonomous Colleges as a compulsory subject in addition to the existing course structure of R 13 and R15 Regulations and it should be treated as a Lab subject {Student Centered) with two credits from the academic year 2015-16. The examination will be held as per the regulations. The Colleges are required to conduct Classroom interactions, discussions, various activities by showing videos on important topics etc.
