JNTU-ANANTAPUR : Exemption of 8 Credits For B.Tech (R09) Students For Award of Degree

Certain final year students of B.Tech R09 regulations passing out during 2013 to 16 have requested the University to allow waiver of up to 8 credits as was done for earlier batch (videread. 1).

The Standing Committee for Academic Senate considering the disturbed academic year during 2013-14 in connection with the state bifurcation & based on the request of the students made certain resolutions for B.Tech courses belonging to R09 regulations, (vide read.2). Accordingly, the orders with the following resolutions are issued for B.Tech courses belonging to R09 regulations (vide read.2) applicable for final year students passed out during 2013 to 2016:

1) B.Tech degree shall be awarded for the best 212 credits for regular students & best 160 credits for lateral entry students with the following compulsory subjects:
i) All the practical subjects
ii) Project work​

2) With regard to exemption of upto 8 credits for B.Tech students, only the following cases are permitted:
(i) If the student passes in all subjects (both regular & LES):
The aggregate percentage & class shall be awarded, excluding 2 theory subejcts of 4 credits each, in which the student has secured lowest marks.

(ii) If the student fails in 2 theory subjects of 4 credits each (both for regualr & LES):
The aggregate percentage & class shall be awarded, excluding those 2 theory subjects in which the student has failed.

(iii) If the students fails in the theory subject of 6 credits (or) if the student fails in one theory subjects of 6 credits & the seminar :
The aggregate percentage and the class shall be awarded, excluding the subject in which the students has failed and the seminar marks.

(iv) If the students fails in the Seminar only:
  • Regular Students : The aggregate percentage & class shall be awarded, excluding one theory subject of 6 credits in which the student secured lowest marks.
  • LES : The student shall have acquired 162 credits. However, for calculating the aggregate percentage & for awarding class, the marks obtained in the best 160 credits shall be considered.
(v) If the student fails in Seminar & one theory subject of 4 credits credits:
  • Regular Students : The student shall have acquired 214 credits. How ever, for calculating the aggregate percentage & for awarding class, the marks obtained in the best 212 credits shall be considered, excluding the seminar & the theory subject in which the candidate has failed.
  • LES : The student shall have acquired 162 credits. However for calculating the aggregate percentage & for awarding class, the marks obtained in the best 160 credits shall be considered, excluding the seminar & the theory subject in which the candidate has failed.
These orders shall come into force with immediate effect, subject to ratification by M&DC of the University.

The University has exempted upto eight credits for the students of B.Tech program admitted under R09 regulations for both the regular and lateral entry schemes. In view of the exemption,you are requested to forward undertakings submitted by the eligible students who have obtained 212/214/216/218 (for regular) & 160/162/164/166 (for LES) credits at the end of recently concluded fourth year second semester regular May/June 2014 examinations along with the provisional certificate applications and all necessary enclosures.

The PC applications along with the undertakings and enclosures may be submitted to the undersigned office.
