JNTUH Formation of Anti-Drug Committees (ADCs) similar to Anti Ragging Committees in the University, Autonomous and affiliated Colleges of JNTUH

JNTU-Hyderabad ( JNTUH ) In the reference (2) cited above, the Secretary, Telangana State Council Higher Education (TSCHE), Hyderabad has forwarded the letter of the Director, TS Anti Narcotics Bureau, Hyderabad wherein they have informed that the formation of Anti-Drug Committees (ADCs) similar to Anti-Ragging Committees in the educational institutions across the state.

In this connection, the Director, TS Anti Narcotics Bureau, Hyderabad has issued the guidelines for formation of the Anti Drug Committees are given below:

1. Constitute a committee of at least 5 members to be known as the Anti-drug Committee headed by the Head of the Institution and consisting representatives of civil and police administration. NGO involved in youth activities, faculty members, parents, students, non-teaching staff etc.,

2. The institutions shall elect suitable warning hoardings/bill boards/banners in prominent places within the campus, to exhort the student not to indulge in drug consumption.

3. Before the commencement of the academic sessions in any institution, the Head of the Institution shall convene and address a meeting of various functionaries/agencies, such as Hostel warden's representative of students, parents/guardians, faculty district administration including the police to discuss the measures to be taken to prevent drugs in the institution and steps to be taken to identify those including in or abetting drugs padding/consumption.

4. The institution shall give wide publicity among student, through various means about the laws relating to drugs and the catastrophic consequences of drug consumption.

5. The Committee should conduct events like Anti-Drugs work shop seminars, orientation programs, counselling awareness programs educating ill effects of drugs sessions, encouraging peer policing among students against drugs and reporting of any noticed use of drugs by students to authorities.

6. the Committee shall intimate the local Police, if anyone is round or reasonable believed to be indulging in consumption or possession or sale of purchase of Narcotic and psychotropic drugs.

7. If any person comes to know any information regarding Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, it shall be informed to the helpline No. 8712671111 and Email ID:Isnabho-hyd@tspolice.gov.in. Such information shall be kept confidential as it is a classified information and cannot be disclosed to any person or authority.

8. It is hereby notified that is shall be the overall responsibility of the Colleges and other equivalent educational institutions and its management to put in place other systems and checks to eradicate the menace of Narcotic Drugs from in and around their premises.

Therefore, all the Principals of the University, Autonomous & Affiliated Colleges of JNTUH are requested to from a Anti Drug Committees and follow the above guidelines and upload the details of Anti Drug Committees in the respective Colleges Website and to mail Id:tsnabho-hyd@tspolice.gov.in at the earliest under the intimation to the Government.
